Hospital Point Light in Beverly, Massachusetts

Hospital Point LightThis is the Hospital Point Light in Beverly, Massachusetts. This doesn't look much like a lighthouse, but on the top you can see the light. The actual lighthouse is on the other side of this picture. The building was, at one time, a smallpox hospital. It was decided it was a good place for a lighthouse and the light was added near the structure.

To get to the lighthouse take Route 127 in Beverly (also know as Hale St.), turn onto East Corning Street until it intersects with Neptune Street. East Corning Street turns into Bayview Ave (a dead end) go to the end and there is a viewing spot there.

The lighthouse was established in 1872 and automated in 1947. The lighthouse stands 45 feet high.
