Staging The Living Room

My living room has been taken over by my 9 year old artist who thinks it's her art studio and playroom. No amount of reasoning with her convinces her to pick up her stuff.

Here are the before pictures of my living room.

Jill's Suggestions:

Take border off baseboard. Makes the room look dated.

Repaint floor

Put throw pillows on sofa to lighten it up

Get a coffee table and put a mudcloth runner on it

Put handpainted candle holder & little African birds on the coffee table

Move bookcases to TV area

Window area should become reading nook - add comfy chair & light. Stage with a hardcover book.

Put a notebook with a pen on the desk. Make mudcloth cushion for the desk chair which is currently by the windows.

Computer stuff - move upstairs to spare room.

Put a little treasure in the box in the floor with a note with a story about the box

What I did:
July 2008

Moved bookcase to TV area.

Move coffee table from under TV to in front of sofa.

Put handpainted candle holder, three African birds, and jade plant in handmade (by me) pottery on table.

Replaced two outlets - Cost: $70

Moved all of Hannah's art stuff up into spare room on the second floor.

Got rid of the three plastic bins next to the desk.

When the house goes up for sale, the vacuum will be stored in the basement.

Need to find some interesting things to put in bookcases under TV.

Removed flowers from wall.
